No-exam life insurance
Eligibility criteria for accelerated underwriting, how it functions, and what takes place if you don't qualify.
Many carriers now provide accelerated underwriting: for applicants meeting age and amount limits, they decide on the application, prescription history, driving record and other data rather than a medical exam. Some answers come back the same day. Each quote notes whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not expected.
What it changes
Accelerated paths skip the exam but not underwriting. Data you provide gets verified, and policies based on untrue answers are contestable for two years. If the carrier's data raises flags, an exam or lab work may still be requested; you decide whether to move forward.
Who tends to qualify
Typically applicants under about 60 applying for amounts within the carrier's accelerated program limits, with no significant medical history and no tobacco use within the past year. Recent bloodwork from a doctor's visit satisfies some carriers instead of an exam.
When an exam is required, plan for a 20- to 30-minute appointment with a paramedic at your Beaumont-area workplace or residence, with no charge to you. Exam outcomes frequently improve the rate bracket for applicants in good health, which can actually be a plus.
